About the Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be an integral part of the Design and Construction team within Amazon's Global Engineering Services. Your long-term vision will help shape the future of the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage intricate, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection through design completion, permitting, and contract execution, ensuring effective communication with design teams and stakeholders to enhance team performance and foster trust.
- Oversee professional service providers, ensuring their expertise aligns with the requirements for property entitlements and project execution.
- Conduct cost estimations, manage due diligence processes, and track schedules while forecasting potential challenges that may affect successful project handover.
- Implement and manage safety programs and standards to uphold Amazon's commitment to safety.
- Maintain high standards of accountability for results, both personally and within the team.
- Negotiate effectively with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will represent Amazon and the Design and Construction team, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution of construction projects while strategically enhancing processes, costs, quality, health and safety, and sustainability performance.
You will lead and mentor large, cross-functional teams, serving as a technical and project management expert to successfully complete construction projects while motivating individuals at all levels.
Effective communication will be key, as you will engage with various departments and management levels, acting as a subject matter expert on project-related issues. You will leverage your experience to identify gaps in project plans and propose actionable solutions.
About the Team

- A completed Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, along with substantial experience in roles such as Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, or Development Manager.
- Demonstrable project management experience from design through implementation, including negotiation of construction and procurement contracts.
- Experience in packaging processing or logistical facilities with complex equipment is advantageous.
- Fluency in English and German is required.
- Willingness to travel frequently across Europe, up to 30% of the time.
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or a related STEM field.
- Experience in at least two disciplines within the construction industry, such as General Contracting, Owner's Representation, or Engineering & Design.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Proven success in communicating with diverse audiences, including senior management and public officials.
- Experience in a previous new facility launch at Amazon is desirable.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as French, Polish, Arabic, or Turkish is a plus.
