International Trade Compliance Specialist

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for trade and customs inquiries within our European Service Center network.
  • Assist in the development of a comprehensive Import/Export Control framework tailored for Textron Aviation, focusing on the documentation and execution of export and customs processes.
  • Oversee the application process for export/import authorizations, ensuring compliance with ongoing reviews of company materials and products.
  • Represent Textron Aviation in engagements with federal agencies, including audits conducted by Customs authorities.
  • Design and implement a robust customs compliance program for the European and German markets, including conducting internal audits and self-assessments.
  • Analyze EU and National Export Control laws to determine appropriate classifications and licensing authorities for products transferred within and outside the EU.
  • Manage relationships with Customs brokers to ensure compliance on imports, focusing on tariff classification and Customs valuation accuracy.
  • Maintain and validate master data and tariff codes for customs declarations.
  • Review and authorize international travel and visitor arrangements for the organization.
  • Develop and present ongoing training programs on import/export regulations for staff, emphasizing both product and non-product issues.
  • Prioritize and address risks and opportunities to mitigate potential compliance issues.
  • Document compliance determinations in line with company policies and compile necessary data for compliance databases.
  • Assist in the internal assessment of EU export/import transactions to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree with a minimum of 5 years of direct regulatory experience, or 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Technical backgrounds in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering are preferred.
  • Experience in International Transportation, Logistics, and Customs Compliance is essential, with a minimum of 7 years in Global Trade Compliance.
  • Fluency in English and German, both written and verbal, is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and familiarity with SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
