DNV's Energy Markets and Strategy (EMS) team offers advisory services in the realms of economic analysis, strategic planning, regulatory frameworks, and policy development pertaining to energy markets, infrastructures, technologies, and business models.
To enhance our offerings in the domain of energy economics and regulation, we are seeking a consultant to become part of our EMS team in Germany.
This position places you at the forefront of the global energy transition. You will engage in pioneering projects, delivering significant outcomes for our clients. You will gain expertise in the economic regulation of electricity and gas networks, as well as the economic evaluation of energy policies, investments, and business models. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to our reputation for excellence, innovation, and integrity. This role requires a high level of individual accountability, allowing you to shape your responsibilities actively.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
Providing strategic and analytical economic guidance to clients on energy policy, economic regulation, and market design, including economic and financial modeling, and assessing energy infrastructure investments and business models. Executing consulting projects for clients as part of a collaborative project team. Becoming a knowledgeable point of contact for clients regarding economic regulation of electricity and gas networks, tariff design, energy policy, sector restructuring, investment appraisal, and economic and financial valuation. Contributing to the ongoing development and expansion of our services, including securing new projects and crafting successful proposals.The EMS team
Located in Bonn, our team provides economic and commercial insights into the energy sector for clients in the DACH region and beyond. We focus on the energy transition and the implications of shifting to renewable energy sources. Rapid changes introduce uncertainty and risk from a market perspective, and we play an active role in assisting our clients in managing these risks through comprehensive knowledge of power, gas, and broader energy markets.
Our service portfolio includes policy and market analysis, economic regulation and energy market design, integration of renewable energies, economic and financial assessment of investments, commercial and regulatory due diligence, market modeling, and power price forecasting. Our clientele includes leading utilities, network operators, project developers, industrial firms, financial institutions, and various energy and climate-focused governmental bodies.

We expect you to possess the following qualifications:
Strong understanding of energy economics and the regulation of the energy sector. Master's degree or PhD in Economics, Business Administration, or Business Engineering, with a focus on energy economics and/or regulatory economics. A few years of experience in the energy sector. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities. Excellent proficiency in English (both written and spoken). Effective presentation and communication skills; strong report-writing abilities. Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
