About the Position

The Department of Biostatistics and Data Sciences at Universität Stuttgart is seeking a highly skilled statistician to join our team. As a global organization, we collaborate with various functions and external vendors to drive informed decision-making in drug development, approval, and access.

We aim to create a learning organization where professionals develop and deploy cutting-edge data science approaches and technologies to generate evidence that shapes decision-making along the value chain.

As part of the global function Therapeutic Area and Methodology Statistics, you will work in the Center of Excellence Research & Development Statistics and support drug discovery research and development by providing statistical planning and execution, data transformation, and descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics of data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute all data analytic aspects in non-clinical studies and projects, including experimental design, data analytics, and data transformation, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Apply traditional statistical methods and combine them with cutting-edge data science methods in designing, collecting, and analyzing data from research and development.
  • Develop methodologically sound, pragmatic solutions and present compelling data stories to generate insights that make a difference for our patients.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists and experts from various disciplines to drive project success.
  • Enhance your business knowledge and scientific expertise in a global environment.
  • Be an active part of a global biostatistics and data sciences organization that covers all statistical aspects within the complete human pharma product life cycle.
Additional Responsibilities for a Principal Position
  • Lead and oversee the planning and execution of all data analytic aspects in complex non-clinical studies and projects, providing strategic input and directions.
  • Lead and guide other colleagues, internal and external partners on statistics and data science-related tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc), Master of Science (MSc), or Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of statistical methodology, design of experiments, and basic terminology related to pharmaceutical research and development.
  • Proficient knowledge of and hands-on experience in relevant software languages, such as SAS and R.
  • Experience in providing statistical support and demonstrated hands-on experience in statistics questions from pharmaceutical research and development.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and solutions and interact with internal and external bodies on routine issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within and outside of our organization.
  • Oral and written communication skills to interact in interdisciplinary teams and effectively explain, visualize, and communicate statistical information to non-statisticians.
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English.
Additional Requirements for a Principal Position
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge and experience in planning, transforming, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting from complex non-clinical studies and projects.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience regarding advanced statistical concepts and relevant software languages.
  • Advanced project lead experience and exposure to agile project management.
