The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen seeks a motivated Student / Research Assistant to contribute to our groundbreaking research in brain data visualization.

Our Neuroinformatics Research Group develops innovative methods for analyzing complex MRI data, focusing on the intricate workings of the human brain as a dynamic system. We are currently building 'vini,' a powerful data visualization tool designed to unlock the secrets hidden within fMRI scans.

Your Role:

  • Play a key role in enhancing 'vini,' our cutting-edge brain data visualization software.
  • Implement new features and functionalities, refining its capabilities.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and debugging to ensure the software's reliability and performance.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for users, making 'vini' accessible and user-friendly.
  • Provide technical support to users, assisting them in leveraging the full potential of 'vini.'

Your Profile:

  • Enrolled in a relevant field of study such as computer science, biomedical engineering, cognitive science, neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in Python programming, with experience utilizing libraries like NumPy, SciPy, and Matplotlib.
  • Experience in GUI development using PyQt is essential.
  • Familiarity with Python bindings for C and C++ (e.g., sip, Cython, pybind11) is a valuable asset.
  • A basic understanding of MRI data formats (.nii, etc.) is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to learn new technical concepts and tools quickly.
