Main ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent serves as the Lead Traffic Management Specialist for the 405th Army Field Support Brigade (AFSB), within the BASOPS Transportation Division, specifically the European Travel Branch (ETB). This role demands expertise in all aspects of passenger travel and transportation operations across the European Command (EUCOM), Central Command (CENTCOM), and Africa Command (AFRICOM) Areas of Responsibility (AORs). The position necessitates a thorough understanding of traffic management principles to oversee transportation assistants engaged in certifying contractor Central Billing Account (CBA) monthly payment reconciliations and official travel fee payments.
Key duties include:
- Reviewing contractor CBA monthly billing performance and certifying billings before submission to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).
- Leading and monitoring daily workload assignments for approximately two Transportation Assistants (TAs), ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- Evaluating employee performance and recommending improvements, as well as administering technical training for travel accounting assistants.
- Maintaining and updating Desktop Standing Operating Procedures (DSOP) to facilitate training for newly assigned personnel.
- Applying transportation management principles to ensure accountability and internal control across all operations.
The role also involves analyzing travel itineraries against eligibility criteria and advising on travel authorizations, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. The incumbent will liaise with vendors and commercial agents to enhance service quality and implement procedural improvements.
QualificationsApplicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education & Training Level I: 2 years of relevant experience plus 3 years in a similar role.
- Office automation skills are essential.
- Language proficiency: English B2 and German C1 required.
This is a permanent full-time position (38.5 hrs./week). Employees may occasionally work remotely to complete short-term assignments or accommodate special circumstances.
