About the Role
We are seeking a Product Development Manager to join our R&D Tobacco Product Development Center in Trier. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing new, modifying, and maintaining existing tobacco products.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead assigned projects to develop and execute test designs using tobaccos, materials, and processes economically.
- Initiate the preparation of consumer tests and evaluate results on product strengths and weaknesses.
- Prepare product specifications, follow up on product changes to the industrial manufacturing stage, and maintain product ownership on assigned projects.
- Initiate and supervise testing for technical directions on assigned development projects.
- Ensure communication on product development and product maintenance to Global Supply Chain and other stakeholders for assigned projects.
- Manage the implementation of product/specification changes in close cooperation with technical departments and arrange input into SAP.
Your Profile:
- University degree (Bachelor or PhD) in Chemistry, Food Technology, or Agronomy, or equivalent education.
- Minimum several years of business practice, preferably in the tobacco industry or FMCG industry.
- Experience within Research & Development and Product Development is preferred.
- Understanding of tobaccos and markets, casing & flavor, cigarette components, and designs is a plus.
- Interest in sensory evaluation of tobacco and tobacco products.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills, as well as team-oriented.
- Open-minded, ready to learn new things, and flexible attitude.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional foreign language knowledge is advantageous.
- Solid knowledge of common PC software applications.
