We are seeking a skilled Carpentry Instructor to join our team at the Lawrenceville Correctional Center. As a Carpentry Instructor, you will be responsible for providing effective Career and Technical instruction in the assigned trade area, assisting students to complete required competencies, and maintaining accurate student records.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement lesson plans to meet the needs of students in the Carpentry trade area
- Provide one-on-one teaching and guidance to students, as well as lead classroom and lab sessions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including progress reports and competency assessments
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of safety management in the lab
- Collaborate with other instructors to facilitate a positive and productive learning environment
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Carpentry or Industrial Education
- At least two years of experience in the Carpentry trade area, with a focus on teaching and instruction
- Industrial/Technical Professional License/Certification in the relevant trade area/field
- Teaching certificate by the Department of Education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators
- Experience in correctional education classroom management
- Knowledge of all phases of the Carpentry trade area
- Ability to supervise adult inmates in a classroom/lab environment
- Knowledge of correctional education classroom management
