About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join our dynamic and international team at Metro Markets GmbH. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for general accounting activities, including bookkeeping for separate legal entities, monthly/quarterly closing, and preparing consolidated financial statements according to IFRS and HGB.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general accounting activities, including bookkeeping for separate legal entities, monthly/quarterly closing, and preparing consolidated financial statements according to IFRS and HGB.
  • Conduct accounting-related analyses and reconciliations, and support the coordination of financial audits.
  • Collaborate with various teams to address accounting-related inquiries related to accounts receivable and payable.
  • Oversee, optimize, and enhance internal accounting processes.
Requirements
  • Experience with SAP accounting system, Tagetik, and good knowledge in relevant IT applications - MS Excel.
  • 3-5 years experience within similar role and ideally within retail/eCommerce sector.
  • The degree/ relevant qualification in accounting is essential.
  • Experience in accounts receivable (e.g. revenue and expense accounting, payment methods management).
  • Knowledge of IFRS and HGB (or other GAAPs).
  • Knowledge of fixed assets accounting and IFRS 16.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Ownership and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Fluent in English, German would be a plus.
