About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join our Finance, Accounting, and Controlling team at Metro Markets GmbH. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for general accounting activities, including bookkeeping, monthly/quarterly closing, and preparing consolidated financial statements according to IFRS and HGB.

Key Responsibilities
  • General accounting activities, including bookkeeping, monthly/quarterly closing, and preparing consolidated financial statements according to IFRS and HGB.
  • Conducting accounting-related analyses and reconciliations.
  • Supporting the coordination of financial audits.
  • Collaborating with various teams to address accounting-related inquiries related to accounts receivable and payable.
Requirements
  • Experience with SAP accounting system, Tagetik, and good knowledge in relevant IT applications - MS Excel.
  • 3-5 years experience within similar role and ideally within retail/eCommerce sector.
  • The degree/ relevant qualification in accounting is essential.
  • Experience in accounts receivable (e.g. revenue and expense accounting, payment methods management).
  • Knowledge of IFRS and HGB (or other GAAPs).
  • Knowledge of fixed assets accounting and IFRS 16.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Ownership and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Fluent in English, German would be a plus.
