About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Backend Technology team at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. As the Head of Backend Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of cutting-edge backend technologies, including process technology for InP wafers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of scientists and technologists in the development and implementation of backend technologies
  • Research and develop new processes for semiconductor technology using statistical methods, state-of-the-art analysis techniques, and in situ measurement methods
  • Collaborate with the management team and scientists to develop new photonic components
  • Introduce new methods or method optimization, including their validation and documentation, definition of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Contribute own ideas, concepts, and process improvements

Requirements

  • Completed scientific university degree or diploma/master's degree in physics, electrical engineering, or chemistry
  • Specialization in solid-state physics/semiconductor technology
  • Extensive practical experience in continuous improvement
  • Yield analysis and improvement, process development
  • Very good knowledge of German (at least C1 level)
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
  • Professional experience in coating technologies, vacuum systems, passivation coating, and first leadership and management experience
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team
