Software Engineer for Locomotive Controls

We are seeking a talented **Software Engineer** to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge locomotive control software. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and testing PLC applications for locomotives and passenger coaches.
Your Responsibilities- Develop functional concepts and define system requirements for both software and hardware components.
- Design, develop, and test PLC software applications within a collaborative international engineering team.
- Coordinate and develop the control software structure and architecture, collaborating with stakeholders to establish software architecture guidelines and development roadmaps.
- Define and coordinate internal and external software interface structures.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of software engineering tools through software and tool development initiatives.
- Ensure the reusability and maintainability of software deliverables, aligning with our product and technical platform strategies.
- Produce comprehensive documentation for software requirements, specifications, and testing procedures.
- Mentor new colleagues, develop training materials, and facilitate technical workshops within your team.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in software structures and development principles, with extensive experience in vehicle control platform development.
- In-depth knowledge of safety and certification relevant functions, including their verification processes according to industry standards (e.g., EN50657).
- Proven experience in vehicle controls and automation technology; familiarity with Siemens railway automation control system SIBAS is advantageous.
- Strong experience collaborating with international cross-location teams and coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of German is beneficial. Additional European language skills are valuable for our multi-site engineering collaborations.
- Willingness to undertake occasional international business travel (approximately 10%).
