The Institute of Fluid Dynamics focuses on both fundamental and applied research in thermo-fluid dynamics and magnetohydrodynamics, aiming to enhance the sustainability, energy efficiency, and safety of industrial operations.
We are currently seeking a Scientific Assistant (f/m/d) for the Innovative Measurement System aimed at the Detection and Characterization of Critical Raw Materials for Sustainable Production Processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a modular platform integrating a magnetic levitation system within a rare-earth particle-laden two-phase environment, focusing on innovative measurement techniques.
- Design and implement a microelectrode array for electric impedance/resistivity tomography, aimed at enhancing the current imaging methodologies.
- Model critical parameters such as the magnetic Kelvin force distribution, magnetic susceptibility, and interfacial tension through advanced signal modeling from the two-phase measurement system.
- Acquire knowledge in supervised machine learning to implement and assess AI-driven data processing systems for extracting essential parameters related to rare-earth separation.
- Present the developed systems to potential industrial partners and assist in the technical transfer process, focusing on the commercialization of data and optimization of processing operations.
- Draft patents and contribute to the dissemination of research findings in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Candidate Profile
- A completed Master's or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields, with a strong academic record.
- Proven experimental skills with a structured approach to planning, executing, analyzing, and documenting experiments.
- Familiarity with electric impedance or resistivity tomography is advantageous.
- Understanding of fluid dynamics involving various particles in a two-phase system is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of magnetism and magnet technology.
- Proficiency in PCB design, sensor technology, and signal processing.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB, with experience in hardware automation using LabVIEW or Python.
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities, with proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
