Job Description
We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Technical Trainee for Wagon Inspection and Shunting Operations at DB Cargo AG in Offenburg. The 12-month in-house training program will prepare you for your future role as a Wagon Inspector in the technical wagon inspection department.
What to Expect:
- The training program will consist of theoretical and practical training sessions, taking place in full-time (39 hours/week) and will be held at our training centers in Mannheim and Offenburg.
- The training classes will consist of up to 12 participants.
- During the training, you will gain insight into our wagon maintenance and will acquire the qualification to perform shunting operations, wagon inspections, and brake tests independently.
Responsibilities:
- Your main tasks will include the technical inspection of wagons, their braking systems, and the associated loads, as well as shunting and guiding wagons to and from customers.
- You will ensure the operational and traffic-safe condition of our wagons before transporting them to our customers.
- With time, you will become familiar with our wagon fleet and be able to identify defects with trained eyes.
- You will support the investigation, pursuit, and elimination of defects and irregularities on our wagons and their loads, including self-repair or forwarding to maintenance.
- You will be responsible for deciding whether a wagon can continue to be used, adhering to the guidelines of the relevant regulations.
- You will also be responsible for the acceptance of hazardous goods and special shipments.
Your Profile:
- You have completed a vocational training in the metalworking industry, such as mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- You are at least 20 years old and willing to demonstrate your physical and psychological fitness (will be checked by our company doctor during the selection process).
- You are willing to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- You have a natural interest in technical relationships and are willing to continue your education.
- Your work is characterized by a high level of responsibility, accuracy, reliability, and independence.
- It would be an advantage if you also have a valid car driver's license.
