The Automotive Repair Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, analyzing, and rectifying vehicle issues and repair challenges.
Key Duties:
Conducting maintenance and repairs on fleet or governmental vehicles. Timely completion of maintenance requests and repair documentation. Proper disposal of waste materials in accordance with regulations and established procedures. Keeping updated with the latest advancements in technology and installation methods. Inspecting, diagnosing, and identifying vehicle and equipment malfunctions; troubleshooting and determining the type and extent of necessary repairs. Ensuring all assigned vehicles and equipment are repaired to guarantee safety and reliability. Repairing various systems including lighting, sirens, wheel bearings, radiators, HVAC systems, springs, hydraulic systems, catalytic converters, and fuel pumps. Utilizing onboard diagnostic systems and testing equipment to assess automotive computer control and emission systems; analyzing machinery malfunctions using microcomputers, calipers, gauges, and other tools. Inspecting and testing equipment for mechanical faults and replacing worn components. Removing, replacing, adjusting, or cleaning defective parts or components as necessary. Performing oil changes, fluid checks, diagnosing tire wear, replacing batteries, and troubleshooting issues. Conducting engine tune-ups. Applying appropriate techniques and procedures per manufacturer specifications when armoring vehicles as directed. Identifying necessary parts, tools, and supplies for repairs or preventative maintenance checks. Estimating costs and labor time for corrective repairs. Responding to inquiries and communication as required. Ensuring the provision of vehicles and support for clients. Carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent, with technical training or apprenticeship preferred. Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of light, medium, heavy, and specialized automotive equipment. Ability to research and comprehend technical data, wiring, vacuum, air, and hydraulic diagrams relevant to vehicle maintenance. Familiarity with operating systems utilized in motor vehicles and equipment. Understanding of practices and tools used in vehicle maintenance and diagnostics. Knowledge of computer, electrical, and non-mechanical systems and their interaction with mechanical operations. Extensive knowledge of standard tools, equipment, testing procedures, and practices for vehicle repair and preventative maintenance. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Capability to diagnose mechanical and related issues. Proficiency in reading technical manuals, references, and specifications. Ability to write routine correspondence, maintenance logs, and order forms. Competence in operating forklifts, power tools, wrenches, diagnostic equipment, and jacks. Skill in prioritizing and scheduling multiple tasks effectively. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Authorization to work in the designated location.Contractual Requirements:
Completion of training in Vehicle Maintenance or a related field from a recognized technical institution. Two (2) years of experience in maintaining specialized vehicles.Work Environment and Physical Demands:
