Position Overview:

The Division of Agriculture of the University of Arkansas is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Program Technician. This position involves a blend of laboratory and predominantly fieldwork focused on irrigation water management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repairing and installing irrigation systems and equipment.
  • Engaging in agricultural activities such as planting, harvesting, and crop maintenance.
  • Collecting and analyzing data from various logging devices.
  • Conducting manual data collection and performing statistical analysis for field experiments.
  • Operating all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and performing physical tasks, including lifting weights of at least 50 pounds.
  • Traveling to and working on partner farms to conduct tests on irrigation pumps and other related equipment.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanized Systems Management, Agricultural Technology Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related technical field.

Preferred Skills: Familiarity with farming practices, irrigation systems, engines, pumps, and agricultural machinery is highly desirable.

Additional Information:

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
