About the Role

Hirschman Associates is seeking a highly skilled Sanctions Compliance Officer to join our Financial Crime team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our operations comply with international sanctions laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sanctions Investigations: Conduct in-depth investigations of potential sanctions violations, escalating findings to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Monitor transactions and customer activities for compliance with sanctions regulations and internal policies.
  • Sanctions Screening: Perform sanctions screening of transactions, customers, and counterparties, and handle sanctions-related alerts.
  • Policies and Procedures: Develop and maintain sanctions-related policies, procedures, and controls in line with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advisory Role: Advise business units and senior management on sanctions-related risks and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Reporting and Training: Prepare reports on sanctions investigations and trends for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies, and provide training and guidance to employees on sanctions regulations and compliance best practices.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in sanctions compliance, investigations, or a related field within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of international sanctions regulations, including OFAC, EU, and UN sanctions, experience with sanctions screening tools and transaction monitoring systems, excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and high ethical standards and integrity.
