OBJECTIVE:
Under supervision, the incumbent is accountable for ensuring the operational efficiency, upkeep, and repair of all medical apparatus, water systems, and mechanical/electrical infrastructures, thereby safeguarding the well-being of both patients and staff utilizing the equipment. Responsibilities also include inventory management and maintaining cleanliness as necessary. The role contributes to cost management within the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Promotes the FMS culture through adherence to values and customer service expectations. Ensures exceptional service delivery to all internal and external stakeholders. Cultivates and sustains effective relationships through timely and clear communication. Proactively addresses and resolves customer service inquiries and issues promptly.TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE:
Conducts maintenance, testing, and repairs on all water treatment systems, dialysis machinery, medical devices, and mechanical/electrical systems in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and FMCNA Clinical/Technical service protocols. Records all maintenance and repair activities accurately. Performs safety inspections and routine maintenance tasks as per established guidelines. Oversees cleanliness and addresses any housekeeping concerns. Responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of water treatment equipment. Ensures proper maintenance and calibration of all testing devices. Maintains a safe and hygienic environment, ensuring environmental integrity and aesthetic standards. Conducts necessary building maintenance as required. Manages the disposal of medical waste efficiently. Organizes and replenishes supplies in relevant areas as needed. Assists with the ordering and receipt of disposable supplies. Aids in the creation of SAP purchase orders for necessary supplies. Participates in monthly and quarterly inventory assessments with cost reporting through facility-specific records. Evaluates and communicates the current inventory status of equipment to relevant parties.PATIENT INTERACTION:
Ensures visibility to patients through daily walkthroughs during treatment sessions, when feasible. Reinforces the UltraCareTM philosophy and customer service, being available for patient inquiries and concerns. Provides informative tours of the water treatment equipment for patients upon request, explaining the fundamentals of the machinery.ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS:
Processes water and dialysate samples in accordance with specified protocols, preparing samples for shipment. Engages in the documentation and completion of ongoing technical Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities as appropriate.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Offers support at other facilities and/or acute care programs, transporting equipment and supplies as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands and characteristics of the work environment described are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this role. The position entails moderately active work, including prolonged walking and standing. Bending to floor level is necessary for certain repair and maintenance tasks. The role requires significant physical exertion. A two-person assist program and equipment are available for moving heavier loads. Employees must regularly lift and move items weighing up to 600 lbs. using dollies or other equipment. Frequent mixing and lifting of chemical and water solutions weighing up to 50 lbs. is also required. In emergencies, patient safety is paramount, and documented FMCNA emergency procedures must be followed. The work environment is typical of a healthcare facility, featuring controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels. There may be potential exposure to chemicals and infectious materials, with proper training provided for handling such substances.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or vocational training, or an Associate's Degree in electronics preferred.EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Minimum of six months of experience in a technical setting (industry/hospital). Must exhibit strong organizational and leadership capabilities, including problem-solving skills in a healthcare context. Participation in all technical training programs mandated by state/federal regulations and FMCNA policy is required. Newly hired or promoted individuals must comply with the respiratory fit policy requirements. A valid Driver's License is required, along with the ability to cover at other facilities and transport equipment and supplies as needed.
