Senior Software Developer with Bio-/ChemInformatics background

Let’s create a greener future together. We are seeking an entrepreneurial software developer with skills in data-driven web applications and strong interest in data science / machine learning. Prior experience with bio- or cheminformatics is a strong plus. This role is essential for shaping and building our next gen biocompound discovery platform, which leverages fungal biodiversity to identify and predict innovative compounds that can be produced by fungal microorganisms. Tasks Manage a cross-functional project team as a hands-on product owner and ensure alignment with the founding team’s vision and goals as well as customer requirements. Develop and maintain a cloud-based biocompound discovery platform Design and implement algorithms and data flows from internal and external sources. Utilize AI and machine learning techniques to analyze and match multiomics data to functional properties of molecules. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in platform technologies, bioinformatics, AI, and machine learning to continually improve the platform. Create a comprehensive map of fungal chemistry through metabologenomics. Predict chemical structures and properties using deep learning. Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and user-friendly. Collaborate with biologists, chemists, chem-/bioinformaticians and data scientists to integrate their insights into the platform. Identify and develop discovery services for customers, leading to paid collaboration projects or licensing opportunities for discovered compounds. Integrate data and learning from high-throughput validations in the lab environment into the platform. Requirements 3–5 years of practical software development experience with a background in biotechnology, bioinformatics, or biology is highly regarded. Proven experience as a software developer and product owner in complex B2B software or services in an agile (Scrum) environment. Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++. Experience developing and deploying algorithms and data flows, especially those handling biological or chemical datasets. Familiarity with bioinformatics workflows, data standards (e.g., FASTA, GenBank, SDF), and biological databases. Experience integrating AI / LLM models to annotate unstructured biological data and link it into a knowledge graph (e.g., Neo4j). Proficiency in data engineering using Python, SQL, and ETL / ELT frameworks. Strong understanding of data analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy). Experience with cloud technologies such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure, and with containerization tools like Docker. Familiarity with knowledge graph development and databases such as Neo4j. Knowledge of development tools and version control systems, particularly Jira, Confluence, GitHub or GitLab. (Optional) Familiarity with data visualization libraries (Plotly, Matplotlib, or Bokeh).
