The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.

Together with university partners at seven renowned partner sites, we have established the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK). For the partner site of DKTK Essen / Düsseldorf (workplace Essen) the German Cancer Research Center is seeking a research technician.

The position is located in the Divison of Solid Tumor Translational Oncology at the West German Cancer Center of the University Hospital Essen.

**Job description**:

- Collection and processing of patient plasma samples
- Documentation of patient samples and communication with clinicians
- DNA and RNA isolation / quantification
- Preparation of next generation sequencing libraries
- Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence
- Cell culture

**Requirements**:

- Education / training as lab technician or technical assistant or comparable
- Proven working experience with patient samples
- Hands-on working experience with cell culture (maintaining cell lines, establishing primary cell cultures) and/or molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, PCR) would be an advantage
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Reliability and flexibility
- Structured, independent, and careful way of working
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (English)
- Good German language skills are also desired
