The University of Kassel is a dynamic university with around 22.000 students. Founded in 2020 as a research center, the Kassel Institute for Sustainability bundles research activities of all departments and aims at interdisciplinary teaching and research on the topics of sustainable development between the competence fields of nature, technology, culture and society.

- 37669The professorship deals with the core issues of the transition to a sustainable economy and society in the face of increasing environmental degradation, fragile international trade relations, political crises and inequality between and within societies. Academic courses must be provided for both, the degree programs of the Faculty of Economics and Management and for the newly emerging sustainability degree programs. The professorship contributes to the promotion of graduate students and to the academic self-administration of the university.

Specialization in one or more of the following areas of Transformational Economics is expected:

- Equitable, social and regional sustainability transformations and social tipping dynamics,
- Poverty reduction, inequalities including gender dimensions and distributional issues between the Global South and the Global North,
- Global education,
- International trade relations and global governance for sustainable development,
- Economic dynamics of sustainability transformations, including their effects on economic structures and interactions,
- Growth dynamics and use of scarce resources in the context of planetary boundaries,
- Theory of sustainable transformation,
- Global health for sustainable development, including care economics.

Applicants will have relevant teaching experience, a very good publication record, the ability to acquire third-party project funding and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research.
