**Requirements**:

- Completed PhD in economics or related fields (or close to completion)
- Background in energy-, industrial
- or environmental-economics with a methodological focus on applied micro economics and micro-economic simulations or optimization methods.

**Preferred skills**:

- Very good language skills in English (knowledge of German is not necessary but welcome)
- initiative and interest in teamwork and open attitude towards interdisciplinary cooperation.

Researchers at the department do not have teaching obligations. Instead they are expected in addition to academic analysis to contribute to policy engagement and transfer. Voluntary teaching opportunities exist.

The term of appointment is for three years, it can be renewed for three further years. Payment is according to EG 14 TVöD Bund and ranges initially, depending on prior work experience. In addition to flexible working hours, DIW Berlin also offers employees mobile working and a subsidized company ticket.

The Institute analyzes the economic and social aspects of topical issues, formulating and disseminating policy advice based on its research findings.
