- At Bielefeld University's Center for InterAmerican Studies (CIAS), as part of the joint project "Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences: Coping with Crises" (CALAS) is looking for a research assistant for the offices of CIAS at Bielefeld University as soon as possible, latest by 01.06.2023.
- The international and interdisciplinary joint project is the responsibility of a Center for Advanced Studies, where researchers investigate the question of how different social actors in Latin America perceive and evaluate crises and which crisis management strategies these social actors develop and sustainably implement.-
- Your Tasks
- The task includes the supervision of publications of the Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) in Bielefeld, including in particular:
- editorial activities, native editing in English and translations Spanish - English (80 %)
- conceptual and organizational coordination of the production of English-language publications (20 %)

We expect
- completed academic university studies in the social sciences or humanities, with a regional focus on Latin America / Americas (e. g. Master)
- fluent written and spoken English
- very good knowledge of Spanish and good knowledge of German, spoken and written
- experience in translating scientific texts Spanish - English
- experience in editing academic texts
- knowledge of Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools
- strong organizational and coordination skills
- good social and intercultural skills, esp. communication skills
- team-oriented, cooperative way of working
