**The Department Accelerator Research and Development** is looking for

**Scientist for Accelerator Physics / Non-linear Beam Optics and Dynamics**

Your Tasks
- You make significant contributions to the magnetic optics design process for the future BESSY III storage ring-based lightsource with a focus on non-linear beam dynamics improving the lifetime and injection process.
- You plan and coordinate the scientific research activities in the field of non-linear beam dynamics and optimization, in particular considering the misalignments and field errors to improve the stability and robustness of the BESSY III magnetic multi-bend-achromat lattice.
- You set up a simulation/optimization framework and help to prepare a simulated commissioning software, integrated into the HZB software environment.
- Together with the design team and the engineering departments, you help to evolve the design lattice toward a realistic storage ring with well-specified components.
- You will make a significant contribution to the Conceptual and Technical Design Report for BESSY III.

Your Profile
- Completed scientific university degree (master's degree/university diploma) in physics, mathematics, or computer science, including a doctorate in the respective field, specialization in accelerator physics
- In depth knowledge of accelerator physics, lattice design, and non-linear beam dynamics for electron storage ring-based light sources based on Hamiltonian dynamics and resonance driving terms analysis and the necessary simulation software, such as AT (pyAT), elegant, TRACY, or similar
- Very good knowledge of the research landscape in the relevant field
- Knowledge of laboratory and measurement technology and simulation software, especially for accelerator-relevant systems
