**Tenure-track Professorship (W1) “Genomics and Developmental Biology”**

We are seek an individual with an outstanding scientific track record that demonstrates their strengths in targeted modification, design or production of synthetic genomes and their impact on the development of an organism.

The holder of the tenure-track professorship (W1) will ideally conduct research on the zebrafish and/or Japanese rice fish model systems, which are already well established at KIT. However, other animal model systems are also welcome and should be combined with quantitative in vitro or in silico approaches. Research into synthetic genomics in organoids and cell cultures is also possible, provided there is a direct link to developmental biology. We particularly encourage the connection of fundamental biological research with machine learning approaches and/or simulations.

**Contract duration**

Employment as a civil servant for a fixed term (Beamte/r auf Zeit) or as a salaried employee (Angestellte/r) will be limited to six years. An interim evaluation will take place before the expiry of the third year of work.

**_AB_001_QSK_Juniorprofessur.pdf** Specific interim and final evaluation criteria will include independence and originality of research, scientific visibility, publications in renowned journals with a peer review process, acquisition of third-party funding, excellent teaching evaluations, successful supervision of graduation theses (B.Sc./M.Sc.) and doctoral researchers as well as active participation in the work of academic bodies. For your career development, you will be offered support and mentoring.

In case of a positive final evaluation, you will be offered a full professorship (W3).
