Research Associate Electrochemical Analysis

**Who we are...**
Our primary focuses at Fraunhofer IWES are on wind energy and hydrogen technologies. Our institute is home to more than 300 scientists and employees as well as over 100 from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development at seven sites. We secure investments in technological developments through validation, shorten innovation cycles, accelerate certification procedures, and increase planning accuracy by means of innovative measurement methods.

**This team is looking for you...**
You will be part of the group »Electrochemical Analysis« at our site in Leuna. The group’s objective is to investigate components for water electrolysis. Alongside cell and stack tests, the key aspects of our daily work include electrochemical corrosion and RDE measurements. We strive to continuously improve and develop the necessary measurement and analysis methods. At present, the team consists of eight research associates and several students. We support each other irrespective of our projects and backgrounds. A culture of open exchange and cooperation, even beyond team boundaries and sites, are particularly important to us.

**What you will do**

**These duties await you...**
You will be responsible for handling all aspects of our corrosion measurement equipment and will be actively involved in everything from setting up and developing the test benches right up to performing and monitoring the measurements. You will either analyze the collected data using tools such as MS Excel and Origin to generate simple visual graphs or develop an automated data analysis process using Python for future reference projects. Your ideas and support will be play a pivotal part during various electrochemical tasks, including the investigation of materials and components to be used in water electrolysis, such as single cells or stacks. Furthermore, you will be responsible for writing research proposals and scientific project reports.

When you join us, you will be directly involved in project management, but do not worry: We will be there for you and guide you every step of the way. Early on, you will be involved in a variety of projects, and after a period of familiarization, you will be able to move on to more responsibility, and eventually manage your own projects. You will also contribute your ideas for new projects, work on scientific publications, and attend workshops as well as conferences to present both your personal results and those of your team.

The position is limited to 3 years. The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis, preferably close to full-time. Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD).
