At the Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty NW I, Institute for Biology, Zoology, General

Zoology, a 3 year limited

PhD position (m-w-d)

is to be filled part-time (65 %) starting 01.08.2023.

Remuneration depends on the assignment of tasks and the fulfillment of personal requirements up to salary

group 13 TV-L.

Work tasks:

- Organization and conducting of field work (mapping and sampling of insects - ants) in France
- Organization and conducting of laboratory experiments with live animals (ants)
- Organization and conducting of molecular work (population genomics using Poolseq-whole genome se
- quencing)
- Recruitment, supervision, and guidance of student helpers
- Analysis of the gathered data
- Preparation of scientific publications in English
- The possibility to do a doctorate is given

**Requirements**:

- Completed scientific university degree (MSc/Diploma) in biology or related fields
- Prior knowledge and/or experience in field work with insects, laboratory experiments with insects and/or

molecular techniques (DNA extraction, next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics)
- Fluency in English
- Good communication and social skills
- Knowledge of French is desired
- A driving license valid in France for field work is compulsory and (ideally) access to a car for field work
