W1-juniorprofessorship for Cognitive, Affective

In the Department I of the University of Trier, the following position is available as a temporary civil
servant in the Department of Psychology, starting January 2024 at the earliest:
W1-Juniorprofessorship for Cognitive, Affective,
Behavioral Neuroscience with focus on Neurostimulation
with tenure track according to W2(LBesG) (M/F/d).

If the requirements for tenure are not met, the position may be offered as a salaried position. The
position holder represents the area of research and teaching specified in the dedication.

This tenure-track professorship is intended for early career scholars with exceptional potential for further
careers in academia.

The future position holder should conduct substantive research in the area of Cognitive, Affective,
Behavioral Neuroscience - where a focus of research should include the use of neuro
- psychophysiological modulation such as current brain stimulation methods (such as rTMS, taVNS, tDCS,
tACS). In this context, we expect active participation in the conceptual development of the DFG-funded
research groups FOR 2698 and FOR 2790 or their further development into larger DFG-funded consortia,
as well as willingness to participate in the newly to be founded Institute for Cognitive and Affective
Neuroscience (ICAN). In addition, the professorship participates in teaching in the bachelor's and

We are looking for a proven research personality with extensive publications in the field of cognitive
- affective neuroscience according to career stage. Experience in attracting external funding as well as
initial leadership experience is desired.

The official duties result from - 48 HochSchG. The hiring requirements result from - 54 HochSchG. The
ability to offer courses in German is expected.

According to -- 54, 55 HochSchG, junior professorships are generally filled for a period of six years. An
evaluation of an orienting nature on the performance level in teaching and research or art takes place
at the earliest after the third and at the latest before the end of the fourth year of employment. Following
the period of the junior professorship, a permanent transfer of the above-mentioned professorship
(grade W2 LBesG) is envisaged if the post holder has proven his/her worth in accordance with the
relevant university regulations (evaluation procedure) and the general service and personal
requirements are met. Reference is made in this context to - 50 para. 5 sentence 6 HochSchG.
