Otto von Guericke University in the state capital of Magdeburg is a medium-sized university with

several modern specializations. The Faculty of Natural Sciences offers interdisciplinary courses

with scientific, technical, neuroscientific and behavioral science components. It covers a broad

research spectrum from the basic building blocks of matter in physics to living nature in biology

and human behavior in psychology and is involved in numerous projects and collaborations within

the OVGU and worldwide.

As part of the establishment of a research cluster at the interface of process engineering,

mathematics and social sciences (SmartProSys excellence initiative), a W1 junior professorship with

a focus on "Interventions in the circular economy" will be created to strengthen psychological

research in the interface area of the transformation of carbon chemistry. The junior professorship

is intended to provide its own impetus in the field of research into the plasticity (variability and

changeability) of sustainability-relevant environmental behavior, and is to contribute to the

SmartProSys excellence initiative with a focus on the development and evaluation of intervention

measures to promote sustainable consumption practices in the context of a circular carbon

economy.

Recruitment requirements are:

A university degree in the field of psychology,

special aptitude for scientific work, as evidenced by the quality of the doctorate and

publications and the acquisition of competitive third-party funding,

pedagogical aptitude and teaching experience in the training of psychology students,

What is expected:

Outstanding scientific achievements in environmental psychological intervention research

in the field of resource conservation and the handling of recyclable materials in the

household as well as in the theory-based development of intervention measures,

experience with methods of data collection and analysis in quantitative empirical social

research, in particular with decision experiments and intervention studies in the field.

The appointment requirements according to - 40 HSG LSA must be fulfilled. The W1 junior

professorship is initially appointed for 3 years. In the third year, an interim evaluation will take
place. After positive evaluation, the position will be extended for another 3 years. The fixed term
appointment results from - 41 (1) HSG LSA.
