Research Assistant (Doctoral Researcher/PhD)

The position is offered for a period of 3 years. The starting date is 1st september 2024. The position is part-time (75 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 75 %).

**Tasks**:

- scientific services in research
- research on a topic in the field of microscopic modeling of exciton and trion dynamics in 2D materials
- independent planning, implementation and evaluation of simulations
- development of quantum mechanical and material-specific models and their numerical evaluation
- Summarizing and presenting the research results

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to - 2, 1 WissZeitVG.

**Profile**:

- MSc-degree or equivalent in physics, preferably with a focus on theoretical solid state physics
- very good knowledge of quantum mechanics and in particular theoretical solid state physics
- programming knowledge (C, Phyton)
- motivation, initiative, creativity, resilience during peak workloads and ability to work in a team
- very good written and spoken English

Disposition to own scientific qualification (e.g. a doctorate project in the area) is expected.
