In order to support the FCAS Chief Engineering Organization (TEJ), Airbus Defence and Space in Manching is looking for a

**Cross Plattform Mission System Lead Architect (d/f/m)**:
FCAS - Shaping the future European Air Power.

FCAS has the potential to become a future key pillar to secure the sovereignty of Europe, strategically, technologically, and industrially With Spain joining the Franco-German cooperation, the program took an important step towards its Europeanization. As FCAS is much more than “just” a new Fighter, but an integrated & combined system-of-system including existing and future platforms and tools, the program will integrate a wide range of the Airbus DS portfolio and competencies.

The X-platform mission management system (XPMS) is the central part of FCAS turning the isolated assets into a collaborative System of System. If you are keen to work on new technologies (new Avionic architectures, artificial intelligence, new way of developing SW,) and being part of the team building this system from the very beginning join the FCAS Chief Engineering Organization (TEJ) in Manching.

**Tasks & Accountability**:
In close cooperation with the XPMS Chief Engineer the job holder will be responsible for
- Definition of XPMS in terms of function and system as well as outline of strategy e.g. family concept
- Functional lead of a team of specialist engineers (work package leaders) in the overall design, development, integration and demonstration to satisfy internal and external customers.
- Supporting technology-roadmap definitions
- Supporting of the transversal activities and functions (Management of common resources, integration of modular avionic architecture air and ground based, system configurations, networks and busses, connectivity, data loading and storage incl. analytics).
- Definition and steering of ad-hoc-development steps to reduce development risk
- Work with customers and operators, capture product and system requirements, generate corresponding solutions and produce technical specifications for the full life cycle.
- Inspire the development, balancing ambition versus robustness, affordable technology and risk levels, utilising methods such as agile, concurrent engineering and design-to-cost.
- Concept design and modelling of a reference architecture using appropriate modelling methods and tools
- Performance of Trade-off-analyses in order to identify best system architecture
- Validation of the architecture (also by e.g. virtual and physical integration techniques)
- Support engineering proposal processes and workload planning. Approve the necessary budget for engineering resources related to the program engineering tasks and verify resources availability.
- Support the assessment of airworthiness implication with the associated platform Chief Engineers.
- Bachelor / Master Degree (or equivalent) in a aeronautic engineering or similar field
- Consolidated experience in engineering
- Solid knowledge in mission systems and avionic
- Experience in project / program management including experiences in an agile development environment
- Good communications and presentation skills with ability to adapt to different contexts and targets
- The ability to work with multinational & multi-functional teams
- Ability to influence and coach
- Team player skills
- German & English Language skills (negotiation level), third language (French / Spanish) would be a plus
