in Vollzeit (teilzeitgeeignet) zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist befristet bis 3 Jahre.

This is a fix-term full-time position (39,8 hours / week). The salary levels will be in accordance with the German pay grade system for public servants, NBesO A13 or TV-L E13, depending on previous work experience. Following successful evaluation, the appointment can be extended for a further period of 3 years (- 31 NHG/WissZeitVG). Details are provided upon request.

**About us**
Our team is broadly interested in the deep and intertwined histories of life and Earth. Seeking to understand how our modern world came into being, we explore complex interactions between (micro)organisms and non-living matter across temporal and spatial scales. In order to develop a robust understanding of geobiological key-processes, we combine field and laboratory based analytical approaches from paleontology, geomicrobiology, sedimentology, and biogeochemistry. Our research provides essential information for the identification of habitable worlds and potential signs of life elsewhere in the universe.

**Your profile**
- University degree and a doctorate in geosciences or a related discipline
- Broad interest in early life on Earth, deep biosphere, and/or microbe-mineral interactions in modern and ancient environments
- Strong background in geobiology, specifically with expertise in geomicrobiology, organic geochemistry and/or paleontology
- Experience in working with petrographic thin sections, histological sections and/or microbiological staining techniques
- Ability to perform scientific field work in remote areas and under rough conditions
- Demonstrated experience in teaching
- Driver’s license
- A good command of English
- Team player, characterized by a cooperative, committed and responsible working style

**Your tasks**
- Supervising the department’s analytical imaging facilities, including preparation labs and SEM
- Carrying out own research in the field of geobiology
- Support development of not yet established analytical imaging techniques for studying geological, environmental, and/or microbiological samples
- Organize and conduct scientific field work (e.g., scientific expeditions, research cruises)
- Teaching of BSc and MSc courses (e.g. field and lab courses in geobiology, 4 weekly hours per semester).
- Raise research funding

The position serves to qualify the next generation of academics and offers the opportunity for a habilitation. The position is suitable for part-time.
