The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.

Together with university partners at seven renowned partner sites, we have established the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK). For the partner site of DKTK Dresden the German Cancer Research Center is seeking a PhD student.

The position is part of a strategic initiative focusing on organoid research in the team of Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Daniel Stange and is based in an international, interdisciplinary and dynamic working environment. The overarching goal of this work is a collaborative effort of all DKTK sites to better understand the process of liver metastasis.

**Job description**:

- Establish a translational ex vivo model for studying colorectal liver metastasis
- Perform drug screens, genomics and transcriptomics in ex vivo model
- Functional investigation of omics findings through CRISPR screening
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team with clinicians and biostatisticians

**Requirements**:

- Master's degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedicine or related fields
- Familiarity with cancer biology, especially cancer genomics
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture; knowledge of 3D culture is desirable
- Basic skills in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, nucleic acid isolation, PCR, Western blot
- Familiarity with basic CRISPR techniques
- Willingness to learn
- Strong commitment and motivation to work independently
- Desire to perform in an international and dynamic team
- Fluency in spoken and written English
