**Unser Profil**:
The Institute for Road Science Aachen (ISAC) is dedicated to enhancing the interface between human behaviour and the safety of transport infrastructure. Our research agenda encompasses the intricacies of how road users interact with their environment and the psychological factors that underpin these interactions. At the institute, we are integrating this focus on human factors into the core of our infrastructure safety design studies. Our focus is on the development of innovative infrastructure elements to support all road users

The Institute is equipped with cutting-edge resources pivotal for research in Human Factors and Infrastructure Safety Design. Central to our facilities is a sophisticated driving simulator, offering immersive driving experiences with realistic scenarios through 360° projections and sound simulations. We complement this with advanced eye-tracking systems for detailed behavioural analysis, and a suite of radar and video detection technologies for accurate traffic pattern measurement.

**Ihr Profil**:

- A doctoral degree in human factors engineering, psychology, sociology or a related field, preferably with a focus on traffic and transport safety.
- Any pre-knowledge in road engineering will be considered favourable but it is not necessary.
- Proficiency in conducting comprehensive behavioural analysis, so as in designing, administering, and analysing online questionnaires and other survey methods.
- Competence in the use of statistical software and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with driving simulation technology and/or pedestrian and bicycle simulation tools and interpreting results in safety and behavioural studies.

**Ihre Aufgaben**:

- Maintain and build the human factors team at ISAC further up
- Design and execute research studies to investigate human interactions with transport infrastructure
- Utilize the institute's driving simulator to analyse driving behaviour under various conditions and assess the impact of infrastructural changes on driver performance
- Application / adaptation / development of research measures in the field of human factors in general, and in the area of infrastructure measures in particular
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate psychological insights into engineering solutions
- Write journal papers and present findings at conferences and stakeholder meetings to disseminate research outcomes
- Assist in the mentorship of graduate students and junior researchers
- Stay abreast of the latest research in the field and maintain excellent contacts with the industry to understand their needs
