Die Uniklinik der RWTH Aachen verbindet als Supramaximalversorger patientenorientierte Medizin und Pflege, Lehre sowie Forschung auf internationalem Niveau. Mit 36 Fachkliniken, 33 Instituten und sechs fachübergreifenden Einheiten deckt die Uniklinik das gesamte medizinische Spektrum ab. Die Bündelung von Krankenversorgung, Forschung und Lehre in einem Zentralgebäude bietet beste Voraussetzungen für einen intensiven interdisziplinären Austausch und eine enge klinische und wissenschaftliche Vernetzung. Hervorragend qualifizierte Teams aus Ärztinnen/Ärzten, Pflegenden und Wissenschaftlerinnen/Wissenschaftlern setzen sich kompetent für die Gesundheit der Patientinnen und Patienten ein. Rund 9.000 Mitarbeitende sorgen für patientenorientierte Medizin und eine Pflege nach anerkannten Qualitätsstandards. Die Uniklinik versorgt mit 1.400 Betten rund 50.000 stationäre und 200.000 ambulante Fälle pro Jahr.

In der **Klinik für Gastroenterologie, Stoffwechselerkrankungen und Internistische Intensivmedizin (Med. Klinik III) **ist zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine Stelle als

**PhD Student/-in (w/m/d)**:
mit 65% der vollen tariflich vereinbarten Arbeitszeit (zzt. 38,5 Stunden/Woche) zunächst unter Berücksichtigung des WissZeitVG auf 3 Jahre befristet zu besetzten. Die Möglichkeit zur Promotion besteht.

Das Schneider Lab an der Uniklinik RWTH Aachen forscht an Mechanismen der Organ-Wechselwirkungen bei Erkrankungen des Gastrointestinaltraktes. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt dabei auf der Untersuchung, wie der Darm und die intestinale Mikrobiota auf die Leber einwirkt. Außerdem beschäftigen sich neuste Forschungsarbeiten auch mit der Interaktion des Nervensystems mit Immunzellen im Darm. Wir konzentrieren uns auf die Entwicklung wirksamer Therapieeinsätze, um das Risiko für diese Erkrankungen bei Patienten/-innen zu mindern. Unsere Forschung umfasst sowohl Arbeiten an Tieren als auch klinische Anwendungen, um unsere Erkenntnisse aus dem Labor in die Klinik zu übertragen. Wir wenden in unserer Forschung ein breites Spektrum an Technologien an, darunter Durchflusszytometrie, Single-Cell RNA Sequenzierung, Shotgun-Metagenomik-Sequenzierung, metabolische Analysen, Analysen großer Patientenkohorten (UK Biobank, Penn Medicine Biobank) und künstliche Intelligenz. Wir verwenden metabolische Analysen, um die Auswirkungen von Mikrobiomveränderungen auf immunologische und metabolische Funktionen zu verstehen.

**Ihre Aufgaben**
- Selbstständige Planung, Koordinierung, Durchführung und Publikation eines Forschungsprojekts in enger Betreuung durch PostDocs und den Arbeitsgruppenleiter
- Vielfältiges Spektrum an immunologischen, molekular
- und zellbiologischen Methoden
- Umgang mit Mausmodellen, Durchführung von tierexperimentellen Projekten
- Eigenständige Datenauswertung und Darstellung der Ergebnisse, Mitarbeit an Publikationen

**Ihr Profil**

**Wir suchen eine/-n PhD-Studenten/-in, die über einen naturwissenschaftlichen Hintergrund verfügt und unsere Faszination für Immunologie/Mikrobiologie mit klinischem Bezug zur Gastroenterologie und Hepatologie teilt. Programmierkenntnisse und Erfahrung in der Auswertung von Sequenzierungsdaten (Microbiota, RNA Seq etc.) sind von Vorteil. Erfahrungen im Bereich der Planung und Durchführung von Tierversuchen sind ebenfalls erwünscht.**
- Erfolgreich abgeschlossenes naturwissenschaftliches Studium (Biologie, Bioinformatik oder verwandte Disziplinen)
- Großes Interesse an neuen Methoden
- Gute Englischkenntnisse (Level C1)
- Beherrschung wesentlicher molekularbiologischer und immunhistochemischer Techniken
- Programmierkenntnisse; Kenntnisse Bioinformatik
