The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.
The Precision Sarcoma Research group at the German Cancer Research Center and the National Center for Tumor Diseases Heidelberg (Head: Dr. Priya Chudasama) is looking for a qualified and motivated research assistant to support the structural and functional genomic characterization of bone and soft-tissue sarcoma, with specific focus on telomere maintenance and genomic instability as well as tumor immune microenvironment.
**Job description**:
- Analysis of next-generation sequencing data derived from human sarcoma samples to identify genome, transcriptome and methylome alterations if bioinformatics expertise is available
- CRISPR/Cas9 screens
- Spatial transcriptomics
- Molecular biology methods (sample preparation, cloning, sequencing, mutagenesis, PCR)
- Routine cell culture methods (culture of cell lines, production of lentiviruses, transduction of cell lines, different assays for hallmarks of cancer)
- Flow cytometry and sorting
- Protein detection (western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence)
- General laboratory work (preparation of solutions, ordering of reagents)
- Comprehensive documentation and presentation of results
**Requirements**:
- Master of Science, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree
- Extensive experience with cell culture and molecular biology methods
- Competence and experience in programming languages (R, Python), experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing data will be a plus
- Ability to work in a team, high level of motivation, flexibility for changing tasks, reliability
- Very good command of written and spoken English
- German language skills are not required
