Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of
migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental
partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It
does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
**_Context:
- **
Working under the general administrative supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), the
overall guidance of the Resources Management Officer, and the direct supervision of the
Head of HR in Germany, the intern will support the operational activities of the HR team, with
a focus on recruitment. Tasks will include:
**_Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- **
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring processes of new staff members and interns at
IOM Germany, in line with IOM regulations and procedures:
- Answer first-level internal and external recruitment-related enquiries.
- Conduct reference and security checks.
- Assist in the hiring and onboarding of new starters.
- Support hiring managers as necessary.
- Support the HR team with day-to-day administrative activities (contract extensions,
pay increases, etc.)
- Assist in maintaining personnel files and ensuring a high level of accuracy.
- Contribute to team projects on topics such as onboarding, process automation,
development of HR trainings.
- Support the HR team through business and process transformations.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned. by the immediate supervisor and/or
CoM.
**_Required Qualifications and Experience
- **
**Education**
Student or graduate, preferably in Human Resources, Psychology, Social and/or Political
Sciences, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
**Experience
- Previous working experience in office / administration work or HR is an advantage.
- Previous experience maintaining files and records in an accurate manner.
- High level of computer literacy and good knowledge of in standard MS products (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

**Languages
Very good knowledge of spoken and written German; fluency in English. Knowledge of
another official IOM language (French, Spanish) is an advantage

- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum
bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent,
or higher); or
- Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in 4.1(a) or (b) above) and, if
selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
