Climate Change and Health Intervention Working Group at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH), led by Dr. Aditi Bunker is seeking a postdoctoral data scientist to contribute to intervention projects conducted in the group.
The post-doc will collaborate closely with Dr. Aditi Bunker, Prof. Till Bärnighausen and Dr. Anant Jani and a global team of scientists and practitioners to generate evidence and create tangible improvements in human health and wellbeing. Our work will inform policy makers, donors, citizens and governments on uptake of interventions to support climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts.
The postdoc will primarily lead data science activities on two grants:
1) **F**ood systems that support transitions to h**E**althy **A**nd **S**ustainable die**T**s (FEAST)
2) The impact of extreme **W**eather **E**vents on the **M**ental health of vulnerable populations in **A**frica (WEMA).
In WEMA, the post-doc will conduct time-series analyses investigate the association between extreme heat and rainfall on cause-specific mental-health-related deaths and illness (ICD10 codes F00-99) at six African Health and Demographic Surveillence System (HDSS) sites. Three of our research partners operate an HDSS (AHRI, APHRC and CRSN). Secondary data from an additional three HDSS (Iganga Mayuge HDSS, Uganda; Karonga HDSS, Malawi; Magu HDSS, Tanzania) will be provided by APHRC through its INSPIRE network.

**Your Tasks and responsibilities**:***
- Manage of the primary research components for the randomized control trials, including designing and implementing the research tools, recruitment strategy, statistical analysis plan, study database, and data quality assurance in close collaboration with research partners
- Lead the statistical analysis and reporting for the randomized controlled trials
- Analyse data on label choices of individuals based on socioeconomic characteristics of individuals to inform the European Commission on food label policies
- Conduct time-series analyses
- Contribute to dissemination of findings through writing high quality manuscripts, preparing presentations and presenting at conferences
- Engage in proposal writing and networking
- Collaborate on CCHI projects, and with our interdisciplinary team scientists with different backgrounds and expertise
