In order to support the Aircraft System Simulation, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an

**Intern within Aircraft System Simulation (d/f/m)**:
Increased capabilities of next generation fighters, including enhanced electronics as well as (more) powerful flight controls, lead to a significantly increased power demand and consequently heat load. Furthermore, low-observability requirements make the use of traditional cooling methods (e.g. secondary air intakes) unfavorable. Therefore, the analysis and evaluation of thermal and power management are crucial for the development of innovative aircraft system architectures.

Located about an hour’s drive north of Munich, Manching is an up-and-coming market town that offers a wide range of leisure and cultural activities. Here, you can enjoy the quality of life in the countryside while the pleasures of near-by cities are still within easy reach.

**Your tasks and responsibilities**:
Support in the development of a simulation framework for combat aircraft system architectures with a focus on thermal and power management. Relevant systems include: propulsion, electrical power generation, environmental control, secondary power system, fuel and hydraulics.
- Modeling (mostly 0D) simplified system behavior using established code libraries as well as text-book methods
- Defining and modeling interfaces between aircraft systems
- Analysis of existing and future system architectures
- Participation and contribution to regular meetings with multidisciplinary departments, external partner companies and subcontractors
- Documentation of the developed simulation methods and analysis results

**Desired skills and qualifications**:

- Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) within aerospace
- / mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge in the fields of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and aircraft systems
- Experience in modeling of physical processes
- Experience in scripting / coding (e.g. C, C++, Python, Fortran, MATLAB/Simulink etc.)
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work productively in a team environment as well as self-reliant
- German and English language: advanced level required (minimum C1 level)

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
