At OncoRay - National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology, about 80 researchers are working together daily in cross-disciplinary programs to develop innovative techniques for cancer treatment by means of biologically individualized and technically optimized radiotherapy. Through the close integration of Modern biology, physics, medicine and information science, OncoRay addresses the practical need for preclinical and clinical translational research in radiation oncology. Furthermore, tomorrow’s international research talents are being educated in the modular teaching program of the OncoRay Postgraduate School.

The research groups “Modelling and Biostatistics in Radiation Oncology” and “Image-Guided High-Precision Radiotherapy” at OncoRay are jointly seeking for a highly motivated and technically skilled

**PhD Student (f/m/x)**:
The salary is according to the TV-L dispositions.

Lung cancer is one of the most common cancer types worldwide and mortality is still high. Therefore, the EU project LANTERN, which includes six centers throughout Europe, aims to combine multi-omics data from all participating centers to generate a large database on patients with lung cancer. Based on algorithms from the field of artificial intelligence, these data shall be used to develop predictive models (digital human avatars) that support cancer diagnosis and prevention as well as personalized treatment decisions. In particular this includes the following tasks:

- Collection of available retrospective data from all centers based on a unified data structure and integration in one database
- Preprocessing of available datasets, including clinical data, imaging data and several types of biological omics data
- Development of multi-omics prediction models based on machine-learning algorithms for supporting tumor diagnosis or outcome prediction
- Implementation of continuous model development strategies using data from prospectively included patients
- Multidisciplinary interaction with all partners

**Your Profil**:

- Master’s degree in data science, medical physics, biostatistics or related fields
- Strong programming skills, strong experience in the analysis of high-dimensional data, machine-learning and/or deep-learning algorithms
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and goal-oriented
- Experience and/or ambition to work in a clinical, multidisciplinary Team
- Very good knowledge of the English language
