Starting at April 1st, 2023 we are looking for a highly motivated

**PhD-Student (f/m/x)**:
This part-time-Postition is limited for 36 months.

The proposed project addresses the open question of the role of a specific group of beta cells in glucose homeostasis and diabetes pathogenesis. This project aims to provide insight into the phenotype and role of individually located beta cells in glucose homeostasis and diabetes, or the first time. You are working with animal models and human tissue samples in combination with live cell imaging, biochemical, histological and cell physiological approaches. Furthermore, you are concerned with the isolation and transplantation of islets. Processing and analysis of microscopic images are also part of your duties like the recording and analysis of hormone secretion in perifusion studies. The main part of your work is the conducting complex molecular, cell physiological and biochemical experiments. You are becoming part of an innovative interdisciplinary team with strong local, national and international interactions and collaborations.

**Your Profile**:

- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physiology, Cell Biology, Biomedicine, or any related fields in biological and medical sciences
- Ideally expertise in the work with animal models, cell biology and/or physiology
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and goal-oriented
- Excellent knowledge of the English language
