**Job Summary**:
The Technical Rooms Specialist is involved with all aspects of technical room operations, from the basic rack layout and construction to the network and hardware arrangements throughout the racks, providing troubleshooting and repair support in the racks, managing the inventory of the technical rooms, as well as coordinating the needed purchases to cover all asset needs. The area of responsibility is maintaining and managing the operations of all technical rooms at the SPI Wessling facility that are used by the Connectivity Product Line team on a regular basis. The Technical Rooms Specialist plans new racks expansions and determines facilities capabilities. This individual organizes the engineering stockroom and maintains the inventory database to accurately reflect the inventory position of all materials.
**Main Tasks and Responsibilities**:
- Assist with and perform troubleshooting on electronic assemblies using common tools
- Contact person for support technicians in creating / troubleshooting test racks
- Interpret, create, and update engineering drawings of racks needed in the technical rooms
- Document the test racks including list of components and wiring diagrams
- Determine requirements for new hardware purchases from available information
- Organize the engineering stockroom in a logical manner such that materials are stored and protected
- Ensure that materials are properly identified and quantities are correct
- Coordinate with other engineering and program teams to prioritize test racks as needed
- Train employees that need to use the technical rooms
- Maintain procedures and work instructions related to the technical rooms
- Run or support regular 5S audits in the technical rooms
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
**Requirements**:
- Successfully completed technical training as an electronics technician or equivalent experience in a related field
- Broad knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components
- Experience with satellite communication and radio frequency technique is advantageous
- Previous experience as an engineering lab technician, assemble/repair line tech or related professional experience is desirable
- Skilled in use of lab instruments (multimeter, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of software operating systems, such as Windows and Linux is desirable
