Master Thesis Marker-based Infrared Tracking

**What you will do**

Motion capture systems use spherical markers to track the position and orientation of lims or of tools.

The markers reflect infrared light to the cameras and their location is computed via triangulation. At least 3 markers in a rigid constellation (star marker) are required to estimate the orientation.

In this thesis the capabilities of non-spherical markers shall be evaluated in a simulation environment. New marker shapes may fundamentally improve tracking systems. This thesis will lay the foundation for further research projects at our institute.

Nevertheless, positive and negative findings are valuable.

**What you bring to the table**
- Student of Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Medical Engineering or similar field of study
- Experience with image processing (e.g. OpenCV) and Python
- Optional: Experience with Blender
