**Wissenschaftler:in (PhD) für die Untersuchung von 3D-Wolken-Strahlungs-Effekten (m, w, d, k.A.)**:
**Leibniz-Institut für Troposphärenforschung (TROPOS), Leipzig**:
Das Leibniz-Institut für Troposphärenforschung (TROPOS) ist ein Forschungsinstitut der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft und ein international renommiertes Institut auf dem Gebiet der Aerosol-und Wolkenforschung.

Die ausgeschriebene Stelle ist Teil der **DFG Forschungsgruppe C3SAR (Cloud 3d Structure And Radiation)**, koordiniert vom Leibniz-Institut für Troposphärenforschung in Leipzig mit Partnern an den Universitäten München, Köln und Hannover sowie dem Deutschen Wetterdienst in Offenbach und Lindenberg. Die Partner vereinen führende Expertisen in Modellierung und Beobachtung von Wolken und deren Strahlungseigenschaften mit dem Ziel, die komplexe räumliche Struktur von Wolken im Klimamodell und in der globalen Fernerkundung zu berücksichtigen. Die Stelle bietet damit hochrelevante und -interessante Arbeits
- und Kooperationsmöglichkeiten auf einem der wichtigsten Gebiete der Klimaforschung. Im betrachteten Teilprojekt bringt TROPOS seine Expertise zur detaillierten Modellierung von Wolken in den Projektverbund ein und plant erstmals eine Kopplung zwischen detaillierter Wolkenmodellierung und Strahlungsberechnung möglich zu machen.

**Für die folgenden Aufgaben sucht das TROPOS eine:n**

**Doktorand:in (m, w, d, k. A.)**:

- Erstellung von detaillierten Wolkensimulationen und deren Kombination mit Beobachtungsdaten zur verbesserten Interpretation der Wolkenprozesse
- Kopplung von Wolkensimulationsdaten mit detaillierter Strahlungsrechnung
- Auswertung von simulierten 3D-Wolken-Strahlung-Effekten in Bezug zu beobachtbaren Größen
- Zusammenstellung und Publikation der wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse in Fachjournalen und Vorstellung der Ergebnisse auf Fachtagungen.

**Wir suchen eine:n Doktorand:in mit folgenden Qualifikationen**
- abgeschlossenes Masterstudium im Bereich Meteorologie, Physik, Mathematik, Informatik oder einer äquivalenten naturwissenschaftlichen oder mathematischen Fachrichtung
- sehr gute Kenntnisse in Python
- und FORTRAN-Programmierung, UNIX/Linux und Shell Script
- Kenntnisse im Umgang mit Server-basierten Rechnerstrukturen und Hochleistungsrechnern (z. B. HLRE am DKRZ)
- sicherer Umgang mit Analyse
- und Visualisierungssoftware
- sehr gute Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift werden vorausgesetzt
- des Weiteren sind von Vorteil: Erfahrungen im Umgang mit dem ICON Modell und der wissenschaftlichen Verwertung von ICON Daten

**Idealer Arbeitsbeginn wäre der 01.08.2024. Die Stelle ist auf 4 Jahre befristet.**
