Das Deutsche Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY mit mehr als 3000 Mitarbeiter:innen an den Standorten Hamburg und Zeuthen zählt zu den weltweit führenden Forschungszentren. Im Forschungsbereich Teilchenphysik beteiligen wir uns in führenden Rollen an Projekten auf unserem Campus und an internationalen Laboren wie CERN oder KEK. Wir entwickeln Technologien für Detektoren und Beschleuniger, und arbeiten am wissenschaftlichen Computing. Wir betreiben wichtige Infrastrukturen wie ein Tier2 Zentrum oder den DESY Teststrahl.
DESY-Fellowships in Experimental Particle Physics werden zweimal im Jahr ausgewählt. Interessent:innen, die kürzlich promoviert haben, werden gebeten, ihre Bewerbung einschließlich dem wissenschaftlichen Werdegang und den üblichen Unterlagen (Motivationsschreiben, Forschungsinteresse, Lebenslauf, Publikationsliste, Kopien der Universitätsabschlüsse, drei Referenzschreiben) für die jeweilige Auswahlrunde über unser Bewerbungsportal einzusenden. Die Erklärung zu den zukünftigen Forschungsinteressen sollte sowohl Physikanalyse als auch technische Arbeiten beinhalten.
**Auswahlrunde II/2024. Bewerbungsschluss 30. September. Eine Entscheidung über die Vergabe eines Fellowships erfolgt bis Ende November. Das Fellowship soll zwischen Januar und Juni 2025 beginnen.**

- Die Experimente ATLAS und CMS am CERN oder das Experiment Belle II am KEK
- Experimentelle Aktivitäten vor Ort (ALPS II und Vorbereitungen weiterer zukünftiger Experimente bei DESY)
- Arbeiten zur Vorbereitung von zukünftigen Experimenten der Teilchenphysik, insbesondere auch technische Arbeiten in der Detektor
- und Technologieentwicklung
- Wissenschaftliches Computing
- Entwicklung von Beschleunigern (Plasma-Wakefield)

- Promotion in Physik (Für ein Fellowship müssen Sie spätestens 5 Jahre nach Ihrer Promotion die Stelle antreten)
- Interesse an der Forschung in der Teilchenphysik, Beschleuniger-/Detektorentwicklung oder wissenschaftlichem Computing
- Expertise, die für mindestens eines der oben genannten
- Forschungsgebiete relevant ist
