**Our Profile**:
At the Learning on Graphs Lab, led by Prof. Dr. Christopher Morris at the Chair of Machine Learning and Reasoning at RWTH Aachen University, we are developing theoretical and practical approaches for machine learning on graphs. Machine learning on graphs is a relatively new field in machine learning that focuses on the structure of data and develops machine learning methods that automatically make predictions about properties of graphs. The work in our lab is characterized by always examining practical methods in terms of their theoretical properties. We are happy to work with interested and dedicated students on these problems.

**Your Profile**:

- Bachelor's degree and immatriculation in a consecutive course
- excellent programming skills in Python
- strong background in machine learning
- experience with PyTorch
- experience with clean code, automatically generated documentation, unit and integration testing
- interest in open source development
- strong commitment to the project in terms of time and effort
- good knowledge of English

nice to have:

- Proven track record (e.g. contributions to open source software, projects on machine learning)
- Independent work ethic
- Hands-on experience with and interest in machine learning on graphs
- Experience working on large code bases

**Your Duties and Responsibilities**:
The Learning on Graph group in the CS department at RWTH is looking for a highly motivated student with practical experience in software development. The goal is to further improve an existing and already widely used open source library in the area of machine learning on graph by adding comprehensive unit and integration testing, adding detailed documentation automatically generated from the source code, developing a consistent API and refactoring the existing code to improve readability and extensibility, establishing a viable continuous delivery pipeline, and a versioning and release strategy.

This project offers an excellent opportunity for ambitious students to work on a large and popular open source library and make a big impact on a rapidly growing field of machine learning.

**What We Offer**:
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term initially for 3 months.
A further employment is planned.
The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts).
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 14,00 €.
