We are now looking for a Business Controller who is interested in becoming an integral part of the O&M (Operations & Maintenance) Controlling team with a particular focus on the UK offshore windfarms. There are currently 5 windfarms operating around the UK from Aberdeen down to Ramsgate.
Business Unit Offshore in BA Wind is responsible for developing, constructing and operating Offshore wind farms. BU Offshore currently consists of 12 operating windfarms with a total capacity of 2.5GW spread across Europe. We are currently working on the construction of two other wind farms for 1.8GW. The operating fleet is supported by strong centralized teams placed across Europe.
The key aspects of this role are covering our reporting, planning and forecast processes. You will be responsible for supporting the business with financial insights and analysis in a range of areas: from reporting actuals and forecasting long-term spend, to analysing cost and performance drivers. You will be part of the O&M Controlling team of 8 people within Business Unit Offshore but also spend a lot of time with the UK O&M Business team.
As part of the Offshore controlling team you will have your direct team colleagues in Amsterdam (NL), Hamburg (GE), Berlin (GE), Kolding (DK) and London (UK).
Your main tasks & responsibilities:
The following main tasks are in the responsibility of the Business Controller in BA Wind Offshore O&M:
- Ensure all financial processes are executed smoothly for the windfarms e.g. month end reporting, forecast preparation, calculate/analyse KPIs
- Provide support (and challenge) to the Operations & Maintenance managers at the wind farms with timely analysis of the site performance, identifying trends/improvements and recommending actions to management and active steering / follow-up on performance improvements;
- Lead the monthly forecasting and annual business planning processes in co-operation with the O&M team and asset managers
- Prepare reporting for a Joint Venture partner and support ad hoc questions from the Joint Venture Manager
- Monthly reporting to Ofgem for subsidy claims
- Support the local accounting team with relevant business insights
- Identifying improvements in the way of working with the financials and bringing them forward to implementation
- Ad-hoc tasks on an individual basis as well as with the other team members
Location
The location of the vacancy is the UK with a preference for you to be close to either our London or Hexham office. We would encourage you to be in the office once per week with the possibility to work from home for the rest of the week. Some travel will be required to other locations in the UK and northern Europe.
**Profile**:
Your qualifications:
- Preference for a Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with up to 3 years PQE
- Experience in management accounting and reporting
- Experience within the energy market is an advantage but not essential
- Experience in a corporate environment with international exposure
- Good business acumen and analytical skills
- Working experience in SAP (or similar package) and Power BI, as well as strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Experience in handling different stakeholders and aligning their goals

- Strong team player, with the ability to influence over a wide network of co-worker relationships and work in multicultural teams
- Strong ability to structure, analyse and interpret financial and commercial issues, as well as presenting the information in a clear and concise format (also to non-financial people)
- Able to identify process improvements and lead them through to implementation
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work in a multitask environment with a hands-on, pragmatic and pro-active mind set
