YOUR ROLE

The HR Director will maintain an effective level of business literacy, as well as a full breadth of HR competencies, to provide credible and pro-active direction, advise, assistance and guidance to Management and Employees regarding HR activities and scope and on new or revised standards, laws and regulations, ensuring that HR policies, procedures and practices are in compliance.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Provides leadership in the areas of compensations, benefits, succession planning, organizational design and development, change management, education/training and development, massive and executive recruitment, performance management, benefits, labour employee relations, payroll, administration, internal communication and HR information systems.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, builds morale, increases productivity and enhances retention. Serves as an employee champion to ensure that processes and relationships are fair and equitable, that communications are open and that conflict is managed effectively. Guides actions to improve overall employee satisfaction in the region.
- Fosters a smooth functioning, efficient and customer-oriented HR team through operational integration, anticipation of problems, timely and effective resolution of issues and disruptions, and the establishment and maintenance of continuous improvement programs and processes. Serves as a business partner to the management team and helps lead the organization as it addresses operational excellence.
- Defines and manages HR budget and other financial and performance measures, as well as follow up or implements new HR KPIs
- Provides leadership in developing or improving sound HR policies, plans, systems and programs that are consistent with the company’s values, mission and strategy
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning to ensure “right” talent is in place for the organization. Serves as lead focal point in Director staffing efforts, providing direction and implementing strategies to address needs.
- Manages and resolves both complex and day-to-day employee relations issues in partnership with other labour /employee relations experts as appropriate, (internal or external Legal and/or HR). Conducts timely, accurate and equitable investigations.
- Supports Social Responsibility, Internal Communication and General Events activities for the cluster.
- Keeps abreast of emerging HR innovations, technology, laws, regulations, trends etc. to ensure credible and current functional leadership and expertise is sought out and represented. Evaluates current HR systems, vendors, contracts, fees and practices against the strategic plan and makes recommendations for improvements to ensure that human capital is properly aligned with strategic objectives.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Degree level in Human Resources, or equivalent qualification or specialism in HR
- 10 years+ generalist HR experience
- Demonstrable expertise in most areas of human resources management, including communications, recruiting, compensation and benefits, workforce and succession planning, training and development, labour and employee relations.
- Experience in designing, staffing, and managing a customer oriented and best practices-based human capital management capability
- Experience in contracting, negotiating, and change management.
- Extensive experience in the successful resolution of sensitive employee and or labour relations issues.
- Experienced in the administration of union avoidance programs.
- Experienced in the administration of visa, immigration and expatriate processing.
- Experience of operating in a global business environment.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment, wage and salary laws and regulations.
