**Duties**:

- Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate all CISS activities, including the Resident, Non-Resident, Outreach and Alumni Programs; the US and International Fellows Programs, resident Research Library, and the Internship program.
- Establish curriculum and programs of instruction that emphasize critical thinking, analysis, collaboration, and cooperation in the study of security-related issues
- Manage continious curriculum review and refinement program to ensure CISS remains relevant, anticipatory of shifts in security environments, and is aligned with key stakeholder (FMOD, DoD, and select combatant/functional commands) policy guidance.
- Advise the Director on matters relating to the management of the CISS.
- Responsible for the development of highly qualified civilian and military professors who lecture, facilitate small-group discussions, lead other activity-based learning events, conduct research and publish in their areas of expertise.
- Responsible for the development and execution of a deliberate faculty development program to include the faculty recruitment, hiring and sustainment plan.
- Provide advice to Director GCMC on faculty hiring, faculty rotation decisions, determining faculty academic rank and seconded-faculty recruitment. Interviews and makes selection recommendations for faculty and key staff positions in CISS.
- Initiate and develop linkages with established and emerging counterpart organizations and stakeholders.
- Direct the establishment, coordination, and conduct of CISS involvement in mutually beneficial professional relationships and cooperative programs with external institutes.
- Provide advice and assistance to senior officials from the U.S. and foreign governments and conduct representational interactions with foreign dignitaries, senior government officials, leaders of academic institutions, and professional associations.
- Ensure CISS is fully engaged in annual Program Plan development and supports center-wide collaboration and coordination in the preparation, resourcing and execution of all resident and non-resident courses, outreach, and Alumni events.
- Develop, execute and make recommendations for budget, personnel, and other resource allocations based on executive-level knowledge of current and long-range priorities for programmatic goals and research.
- Hear and resolve complaints from employees and group grievances for serious disciplinary cases (i.e. proposing suspensions or removals), involving CISS employees.
- Provide overarching guidance, review and approve performance standards for all faculty positions and provide comments and submit military branch services evaluations as required.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Notes: Advanced Degree, PHD is highly desired. Preferable with a focus in the field of Political Science, and /or International Security Studies.
- Must have fluency in English language, Fluency in German and Russian desired.
- Familiarity with executing a faculty performance management process.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Managements (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

**Qualifications**:- Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the AD-1701-00 grade level in the Federal service, performing work in: Leading and managing organizations in the academic and security sector field, preferably for organizations with teaching and research missions; developing well-defined resource requirements; providing advice and assistance to senior officials throughout the U.S. government, Congress, and foreign governments as directed; engaging in annual Program Plan development and supports center-wide collaboration and coordination in the preparation.
