You will be part of a larger international research team consisting of doctoral students, post-doctoral and senior researchers and 3 principal investigators conducting language acquisition studies. Under the supervision of the project's research manager and PI, and in close collaboration with the projects' lab manager, you will oversee our acquisition study infrastructure consisting of a network of Berlin-based daycare centers, with the goal of retaining existing partners, acquiring new ones, and managing the data collection process. Together with student assistants which you will supervise, you will personally oversee the data collection at our partnering daycare centers. You will also assist with the creation of image and video stimuli and experimental designs, in collaboration with researchers, student assistants, and the lab manager, and with the storage and further processing of experimental data. You will be part of a global network of researchers that studies a diverse set of languages spoken across the globe, including many under-studied languages. We focus on six different types of linguistic phenomena: 1) the expression of causation and agency, 2) of motion events, 3) connectives, 4) negative concepts such as exclusion, antonyms, and negation, 5) quantificational concepts, including genericity and distributivity, and 6) dependencies most frequently analyzed as variable binding such as wh-questions, relative clauses, degree clauses.
